Early February has traditionally been a time to celebrate Brigid, Celtic Goddess and Irelands matriarchal Christian saint. Brigid is associated with wisdom, healing and poetry. The ancient bardic tradition in Ireland was one involving highly trained poets who were frequently also musicians, and historians playing a crucial role in preserving and transmitting culture, history, and law through oral tradition. Sydney's renowned Prankqueans will celebrate Brigid the Bard in the beautiful the Carrington Hotel's beautiful Baroque Room in an afternoon featuring music, song, poetry and spoken word. As Irish Australian feminist artists the Prankqueans have gained a well deserved reputation for ethereal evocative concerts celebrating ancient Celtic mysticism and culture with craic (good humour ) thrown in for good measure.
