"There's a certain Slant of light,
Winter Afternoons
That oppresses, like the Heft
Of Cathedral Tunes "
Emily Dickinson spent most of her life in a single room, but her imagination has reached far beyond 19th century Amherst.
In her solitude, she penned nearly 1,800 poems, capturing the textures of grief, wonder, death, nature, and divinity with astonishing clarity and depth. Her style of writing, uniquely musical, has captivated readers and artists for generations.
In A Certain Slant of Light, Operantics invites you to step into Dickinson's inner world. This evocative program features a collection of music by 20th and 21st century composers who have given Dickinsons poetry new voice through music.
About Operantics:
Operantics began in 2015 as a grassroots collective of passionate singers, musicians, and creatives, debuting at Sydneys Independent Theatre with a fresh, vibrant staging of Così fan tutte. Founded on a love of storytelling and a desire to make opera and classical music more accessible.
Now a registered charity, Operantics has carved out a niche in the independent classical music scene creating fresh and vibrant performances that inspire and delight.
