Join our Mushroom Foraging Event where we visit Hampton State Forest under the expert guidance of my mother Maria. She has a life time experience of gathering mushrooms on her parents’ property, pickling and cooking them.
As part of this event, we will: • show you what is safe to pick • demonstrate how to prepare, store and cook mushrooms back at the house • offer you some of our traditional and delicious freshly made foods that may include flat breads, zucchini flowers and arancini, as well as some of our “finds” - to keep you going for your drive home! • plus you take home what you find.
Meet at our place and you drive yourself to the forest, following our car. We will have room for two passengers in our car. For a group booking of six, leave your car at our house, and let us drive.
In the event of bad weather, or last minute road closures, we will run a cooking class at Fifth Ave Katoomba Retreat on all things mushrooms! From mushroom based sauces, button mushrooms filled with pesto, pickled mushrooms and more.

We meet at Fifth Ave Katoomba Retreat at 8am for a cup of Italian milk and coffee, then drive together to Hampton State Forest.
