‘The Buss Family’ by historian Kate O’Neill at Woodford Academy

Join historian Kate O’Neill to learn about the Buss family, the successful proprietors of the ‘The King’s Arms’, the historic roadside Inn now known as the Woodford Academy from 1855 - 1869. Buss was a colourful character who profited greatly from the crowds of hopeful gold rush prospectors making their way along the Great Western Road to Bathurst. The inn, ably managed by Buss, his wife Bridget and their four daughters was popularly known as Buss’s Inn.

‘Buss’s Gold’ a golden ale brewed in honour of William Buss courtesy of the ‘Katoomba Brewing Company’ will also be available on tap along with an exhibition of artworks inspired by William Buss by local artist/graphic designer Greg Bakes. Alcoholic & non alcoholic cider, coffee, tea, cake & light lunches will also be available from the Academy café.

Price: Adults $10, Seniors/ Students (5-15yrs) $8, Family $25 (2 adults, 2 children), Child under 5 free
Your ticket includes: Museum Entry, exhibition, talk & guided museum tour

As a volunteer managed National Trust property, all proceeds from Woodford Academy open days and events directly contributes to the conservation of the Blue Mountains oldest building.
