‘Buss’s Gold’ An Exhibition by Artist Greg Bakes

Sat 18 May 2019
Join Michael Brischetto from ‘Katoomba Brewing Company’ as he shares his brewing secrets for the launch of ‘Buss’s Gold’, at 1pm on Saturday 18 May.

In 1855 William Buss became the new owner of ‘The King’s Arms’, the historic roadside Inn now known as the Woodford Academy. Buss was a colourful character who profited greatly from the crowds of hopeful gold rush prospectors making their way along the Great Western Road to Bathurst. The inn, ably managed by Buss, his wife Bridget and their four daughters was popularly known as Buss’s Inn.

In 2019 the ‘Katoomba Brewing Company’ has partnered with the Woodford Academy to brew a ‘Golden Ale’ in honour of William Buss. ‘Buss’s Gold’ will be available on tap at the Woodford Academy on Saturday, May 18, June 15 & July 13, along with an exhibition of artworks inspired by William Buss by local artist/graphic designer Greg Bakes. Coffee, tea, cake & light lunches will also be available from the Academy café.

‘Buss’s Gold’ is a 2019 Australian Heritage Festival Event ‘Connecting People, Place and the Past’.
