There are two levels - Beginners and Level 2. The classes include castanets, “braceo” (arm work) and “zapateado” (footwork) drills and exercises as well as basic flamenco “marcaje” (marking) and “vueltas” (turns). *For those wishing to learn “palmas” (flamenco hand-clapping) will also be included in some classes.
Flamenco is a lot more than just the dance and as part of the studies, flamenco singing in chorus situations is included. Students have found the singing to be a lot of fun and it is a very relevant part of the flamenco form. You are also given the opportunity to perform if you would like to do so and during the year, various performance situations will be offered to both Levels 1 and 2. We have a live guitarist playing at the classes also.
