Gallery owners in the Blue Mountains are invited to come together for the first Art Gallery Cluster Muster to be held on 27 November 2018 at Gallery ONE88 in Katoomba.

This Cluster Muster provides an exciting opportunity for gallery owners across the Blue Mountains to engage in a lively discussion, exchange knowledge, network and brainstorm collectively with a view to explore opportunities for future collaboration and innovation.
Blue Mountains Economic Enterprise (BMEE) Creative Industries Cluster Manager Ann Niddrie is pleased to be facilitating the event.

“In the last 18 months, I’ve received feedback from numerous galleries throughout the mountains about feeling isolated and wanting to connect with each other but having the busy-ness of running a gallery always taking precedent. When the opportunity came to support a gallery Cluster Muster, I jumped at it,” said Ms Niddrie.

Hosting the evening are the owners of Katoomba’s Gallery ONE88, Victor and Sharon Peralta, who know first-hand how taking care of the business of running a gallery often leaves little time for industry networking.

“ONE88 are excited to be hosting the Gallery Cluster as we strongly believe in community connection,” said Sharon Peralta.
“We thought it would be beneficial for all the mountains’ galleries to get together to meet, discuss the issues facing each of our businesses as we each see them and see how we can work together to minimise them.”

BMEE has been collaborating with Communications students from Western Sydney University to generate ideas for the gallery Cluster Muster and these will be revealed on the night, providing great food for thought.

The development of a Galleries Cluster will be an important step in capitalising on the strength of the region’s creative industries and further elevate the Blue Mountains as a creative industry hotspot.

“We are lucky here in Katoomba that we have a little Arts Precinct going but this Cluster Muster enables us to look at the bigger picture - not just the Katoomba or even Upper Mountains community, but the Blue Mountains community as a whole,” Mrs Peralta added.
