Outdoor Cinema at Blast Furnace for Youth Week 2018

When:
Sat 14 Apr 2018
Time:
5pm
Cost:
Gold Coin Donation
Details:
A free outdoor screening of the hit film ‘The BFG’ will be held at Blast Furnace Park on Saturday 14 April as part of Youth Week 2018.

The BFG was released in 2016 and quickly became one of the most cherished all-ages films. It follows the story of a girl, Sophie, who encounters the Big Friendly Giant who, despite his intimidating appearance, turns out to be a kind-hearted soul.

“The event will start at 5:00pm with popcorn, drinks and a BBQ via a gold coin donation. All funds raised will go to Lithgow Community Projects to support young people currently experiencing homelessness,” Lithgow Mayor Cr Stephen Lesslie said.

“The movie will begin at 6:00pm and finish at around 8:00pm. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to wear warm clothes and bring blankets or bean bags for a more comfortable viewing experience,” Cr Lesslie said.

Youth Week is the largest celebration for everyone between 12 to 24 years of age in NSW. Hundreds of activities and events are organised by young people across the state.

This year’s Youth Week theme ‘Unity Through Diversity’ was set by young people who said that diversity is an important theme for them in NSW.

“I’d like to thank the Youth Council for supporting this event, picking the movie and helping with promotion. Youth Week is a time to recognise the valuable contribution of young people,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor, Cr Stephen Lesslie.

This is a free, family-friendly event (smoke, drug and alcohol free) proudly supported by Lithgow Council and the Department of Family and Community Services.

Bookings are not required, however, for further information please call Viktoria Gulabovski, Council’s Community Development Officer on (02) 6354 9909.
