Natural Dye Weekend

Every day until Sun 21 Jan 2018
Immerse yourself for two days in the wonder of natural colour; a weekend of exploring natural dyes and indigo. The weekend consists of two self contained workshops that can be attended individually or together compliment each other.

Day 1 - Natural Dyes
Experiment with natural dye stuffs that can be sustainably collected in our local environment or are part of everyday household usage and create beautiful colours and designs We will explore simple methods for creating surface designs such as shibori, tie and dye, bundle dying and eco - printing.

Day 2 - Indigo
Indigo vat dying is steeped in myth and folk lore. On this day we will be using only indigo to layer colour over fabrics dyed on day 1 or to create the more traditional blue and white designs. Learn Japanese stitch, fold and bind techniques that create a resist pattern on the fabric.

$140 per day or $220 for the whole weekend. Includes tuition, lunch and materials.
