The Turning Page Bookshop Presents Robyn Collier Wilderness Artist Talk and Book Signing

She will share her love and experience of the awe-inspiring Burragorang Valley and after a pictorial presentation will personally sign purchased copies of her newly released book – "Paintings from Burragorang the Lost Valley".

‘Paintings from Burragorang the Lost Valley’ has been a book which has taken the past four years to bring to fruition. It features a collection of 43 full colour images of paintings done of the Burragorang Valley – a picturesque valley 60 kilometres from Sydney.

This valley was rich in history- supporting farming communities, churches, schools and B&Bs - but was flooded in the 1950's to make way for the Warragamba Dam and Sydney’s water supply. The residents were told to leave, houses demolished and the land stripped of vegetation. In 1958 the Burragorang Valley became Lake Burragorang and with that, priceless aboriginal history was forever lost and people dispossessed.

Robyn has, over the past 40 years had possibly more access to this restricted area than most other people apart from employees. The story of her relationship with this valley is told at the front of the book, a Foreword by environmental activist and former Greens Leader Bob Brown with an Introduction by historian Jim Smith. There are another 27 colour plates towards the back of the book of Robyn’s other paintings.

Robyn Collier is an Australian, award-winning wilderness artist of forty years painting experience and has been visiting Yerranderrie and the Burragorang Valley since 1973.

'Paintings from Burragorang the Lost Valley' is available in Hard Cover, 26 x 29cm, 168 Pages Full Colour, for $68 plus $15 postage.
