Springwood Cricket Club’s under 13's Pat Bourke Scores a Hattrick

On Saturday 9th December, Springwood Cricket Club under 13’s played St Clair Hawkes at St John’s Oval Blaxland. St Clair batted first and started brilliantly with a run rate of around 10 per over for the first 5 overs. It was looking dire for Springwood but with unrelenting persistence from their bowlers, St Clair wickets began to fall.

The master blow was when Pat Bourke scored a hattrick which all but decimated St Clare’s innings. Bowling just two overs, Pat’s figures were a staggering 3 for 2 leaving just one more wicket to fall which went cheaply in the next over. St Clair were all out for 85 runs after only 16 overs but they had a very tidy run rate to their credit.

Knowing they were not in a hurry, with 40 overs in hand, Springwood batsmen passed their score in 27 overs and won the match with the loss of only 5 wickets.

Without Pat’s incredible effort of scoring the hattrick however, the outcome would most likely have been very different
