Blackheath Golf Results

Thursday 15th November was a Single Stableford sponsored by M. Holt. Rhonda Lonergan (23) played to her handicap to win for the second week in a row. Louise Aaron (33) was runner-up with 31 points. Nearest-the Pin on the Blackheath Vegie Patch-sponsored 13th was won by Rhonda.
Wednesday 31st October was our usual Single Stableford and 2BBB. Michael Shelton (8) won eth Single Stableford with 39 points over Andrew Price (22) with 38. The 2BBB winners were Paul Jones (18) and Jerzy Bednarski (25) with 47 points OCB over Jack Walden (+2) and Michael Shelton. Steve Caswell won the 5th NTP (77cm) and Wally Shiel the 17th (88cm). Balls went to 36 OCB.
Sunday 18th November was the Annual Men’s Blackheath Open kindly sponsored by Ray White Real Estate Blackheath. We hosted players from Windsor, Leura, Lithgow, Mudgee, Wentworth Falls, Oberon, Portland, Mollymook, Parkes, Bonnie Doon, Stonecutters Ridge, Wallacia, Penrith, Roseville, Gerringong and Antill Park. It was overcast, but mainly fine golfing weather. The winner of the scratch event, and Blackheath Open Champion was Mark Hale of Mudgee (+2), with a round of 65. Runner-up was our own Nat Foster (3) with 69. A Grade nett winner was Ossie Antaw (6) with 63 nett. B Grade scratch winner was Greg Nankervis (20) with a fine 84 and Rua Kenny (32) was runner-up with 64 nett. Matthew Hankel took out the Junior Nett prize ((6,68). The veteran Nett was won by Alistair Campbell (10), 66 and the Super Vets by Mark Allen (9, 66). Jonathan Van Veen’s team and Luke Skinner’s team, both representing Blackheath, tied for the Teams Event. The Longest Drive belonged to our new Champion, Mark Hale. Nearest the Pin awards went to Damien Majoram on the 2nd (a hole in one!!), Tom Metcalfe on the 5th (300cm), Chris Hilder on the 7th (130cm), Jonathan Van Veen on both the 13th (320cm) and 14th (220cm), and Paul De Lange on the 17th (76cm).
Saturday 17th November was a Medley 2 Person Ambrose sponsored by Helen Rabone, our Captain Michael Mole, and our President Ian Foulsham. Darrell Gawthorpe’s and Rob Thompson’s impressive nett score of 58.5 and scratch score of 63 was enough to ensure victory over a large field. William Elliott and Andrew Rice combined well to score 60.5 and claim second place. Balls went to nett 62.5 OCB. We also held a Single Stableford Saturday Comp (as usual) and that was won by John Wilson (25) 38. The Nearest-the-Pin winner on the second (sponsor: Blue Mountains Plantation Shutters & Cabinet Making hole) was Rob Thompson (289cm). On the 5th (LEADING EDGE COMPUTERS Blue Mountains) it was Gordon Stovold (80cm), The 7th (SiLLYMiLLY Kid’s Clothing) was Andrew Lawson for the second week running (790cm). The 13th (Blue Mountains Escapes) went to Ossie Antaw (40cm). The 14th (Kenn Scully Lawyers) went to Ian Evans (126cm), and on the 17th, Ben Cameron’s hole, it was Greg McDonald. The Women’s 17th NTP was won by Lesley Robinson (406cm).
On Fridays our 9-hole Single Stableford Comp was won by Simon Crosbie again. He improves faster than the handicapper can keep up, but we all know how the pursuit will end. This comp is a winner-takes-all with an entrance fee of $5 (plus green fees which are $0 for members). To play, all you need is a marker. Our Pro-Shop can organise you into a game.
