Our Autumn Bowl, open to all Clubs and celebrating over 50 years of excitement and excellence, is one month away (Sat 5-6 May). We want Clubs or individuals to enter medley teams of four, then enjoy a weekend of Blackheath hospitality and great golf on a beautiful course made even more special by the colours of autumn.

BLACKHEATH LADIES

Thursday 5th April was a Single Stableford sponsored by Many McAlister. Louise Aaron (32) 36 took the spoils from Carrie Soady (25) 32. Nearest-the-Pin on the 7th hole was sponsor Mandy while the Blackheath "Vegie Patch"-sponsored 13th Hole was won by Sandra Draper. Ball went to Louise, Carrie, Mandy, Sandra, Roz Starkey, Joan Aitken, A. Morris, and Di Pease.

BLACKHEATH MEN

Wednesday 4th April was our usual Single Stableford and 4BBB for prizemoney exceeding $160.The Singles winner was Joel Wheatley (0), who played the course six under from a handicap of zero. Runner-up was Club Stalwart and arborist Gordon Stovold (17) with 39 points OCB. Steve Rabone (13) and Murray Mehrtens (24) won the 4-Ball with 47 points. Balls went to 35 points OCB. Nearest-the-Pins were won by Ray Hawkins at the 2nd (206cm) and Darren Barnes on the 17th. Darren’s distance of 67cm would have been better used on a Saturday to win our Pro-Pin that is now above $500. Balls went to 35 points OCB.

SATURDAY 7th April was a busy medley day, where the Men’s Monthly Medal was combined with a Single Stableford and Royal Blackheath Day. Royal Blackheath Course, just outside London (UK), is the oldest course in England, and arguably, the world. Golf was played there from 1603. Sharing the common name “Blackheath” resulted in our Club sending food parcels to Royal Blackheath during the 2nd War. Gratitude was repaid by a visit to our Club in 1952 by emissaries Hawkins and Sanderson, and the gift of 4 tankards and two cups to be played for on “Royal Blackheath Day”. These are collectively known as the Sanderson Hawkins Trophies. The annual event is now sponsored by two of our cheeky members, Roger Sanderson and Ray Hawkins.

Winners of Royal Blackheath Day were Maree Griffiths (28) 66 and Brian Tulloch (16) 68. Card Draw winners were Rua Kenny (21) 70 and Peter Messer (16) 21. Scratch winner was Brad Evans (0) 70.

The Monthly Medal was won by Brian Tulloch.

The Medley Single Stableford went to Kevin Tooke (28) 44. Michael Spiari, from Rosnay, was our best visitor (13) 66.

The Nearest-to-Pin winner on the second (sponsor: Blue Mountains Plantation Shutters & Cabinet Making) was Mark Allen (163cm). On the 5th (Office Choice Blue Mountains) was M. Donoghue (Liverpool, 600cm). On the 7th (Paul & Gabrielle Loneragan) was Jack Walden (331cm), on the 13th (Blue Mountains Escapes) was Matthew Hohan (300cm), on the 14th Dave Robertson (132cm) and on Ben Cameron's 17th hole, Geoff Cope (191cm). The pro-pin was not won but jackpots to over $500. Balls were to 72 nett OCB and 38 pts for the Single Stableford
