Blackheath Golf Results - 27th December - 30th December 2017

Next week the Men compete for the Short Course Championships, whilst the women continue their Summer Comp.

BLACKHEATH MEN

Wednesday 27th December was our monthly "Tiger Tee" Comp with bigger prizes and back tee positions. Brian Tulloch, not exactly the longest hitter in the Club, somehow manufactured 39 points from a 17 handicap to snatch victory from Adam Gronlund (12) 37. Geoff Hilder (22) and Jim Walsh (18), ex Katoomba GC, but now Blackheath members, won the 2BBB with an impressive 45 points, pocketing $60 each. 2BBB runners-up were Michael Mole (14) and Andrew Price (22) with 42 points. NTP at the 2nd was Dean Reynolds (810cm) and at the 17th Phillip Rooke (163cm). Balls went to 36 points.

BLACKHEATH LADIES

On Thursday 28th Yvonne Murray sponsored the Ladies Summer Comp. On Saturday 30th, men and women combined in a Medley comp.

Saturday 30th December

Roger Pierce and Carlos Denoso sponsored a Medley Single Stableford and 2BBB. Early drizzle scared no-one, and the reward was a delightful warm (not hot) day under gentle clouds and on a beautiful course. Visitors from many places made favourable comments, but those who enjoyed the course most were the locals. Peter Johnson (33) won with 46 points from Steve Williams (21) 43. These two have not graced the winners' podium for some time, so welcome back!. Steve's result is particularly impressive, although overdue, because he can hit the ball a long way. The 2BBB winners were Peter and Kevin Tooke (29) with a massive 49 points (yes, Kevin contributed 3 of them). Mick (18) and Rhonda (22) Lonergan came second with 46 points.

Saturday's Nearest the Pins awards and the NTP sponsors are as follows. 2nd hole sponsored by Blue Mountains Plantation Shutters and Cabinet Making, Mick Hillier 173cm. 5th hole sponsored by Office Choice Blue Mountains, not won. 7th hole sponsored by Paul and Gabrielle Loneragan, David Jones 318cm. 13th hole, sponsored by Blue Mountain Escapes, Phil Stricke 128cm. 14th hole, Sam Gray 216cm. 17th hole, sponsored by Ben Cameron, Rua Kenny 58cm. Rua also managed to win our pro-pin ($163) because he was within 1.5 metres of the pin. Balls went to 35 OCB (Men) and 31 (Women). Rebecca Brown's score of 31 means that her fledgling golf career is accelerating.

Next week the Men compete for the Short Course Championships, whilst the women continue their Summer Comp.

Course conditions remain excellent with true greens and lush fairways.

Remember our FREE Junior Clinics that run during school term from 3.45 to 4.30 on Thursdays.
