Blackheath Golf Results - 21st March to 24th March 2018

Source: Blackheath Golf Club
Posted: 26 Mar 2018
Our course looks beautiful and is great to play on. Soon, as autumn progresses, the colours will change to mauves and yellows. Also, the likelihood of actually hitting towards a tree and getting through will increase.

Blackheath Men

Wednesday 21st March was wet and foggy. One group completed the round of the Single Stableford and 2BBB thinking that they had the prizes wrapped up. Four players, four prizes. But, since no-one joined them on the course, the day was cancelled.

Saturday 24th March was a 4BBB with a Single Stableford in conjunction. The event was sponsored by Mick Strong. The day was ideal for golf, apart from late rain that only affected the final 3 groups. Mick Hillier (11) and Bruce Ranse (10) managed 47 points to win. Mick Hillier took out the Single Stableford with 43 points (equivalent to 4 over par!) over Peter White (28) 39. NTP awards went to Peter Messer on both the “Blue Mountains Plantations Shutters and Cabinet Making” second hole (42cm) and the “Office Choice Blue Mountains” 5th (378cm). Rod Welsh took out Paul and Gabrielle Loneragan’s 7th hole (208cm). Noel Daly won the Blue Mountains Escapes” 13th hole (399cm) and Garry Lenson won the 14th (213cm). The Ben Cameron-sponsored 17th was won by Dennis Day with a terrific shot to 128cm. Despite being within 1.5 metres, that did not win our massive pro-pin prize, because Dennis is (only) a welcome visitor, not a member.

Blackheath Women

Since they are blessed with brains, no women played on a wet, miserable Thursday (22nd March).

Saturday 24th was a Single Stableford sponsored by Janette Hawkins. Di Pease (22) won with 32 points over Rhonda Lonergan (22) 31. Nearest the Pin awards went to Di Pease on the 7th, and to Rebecca Brown on the “Blackheath Vegie Patch”-sponsored 13th. Balls were won by Di, Rhonda, Sandra Draper, Susie Tonkin, B. Tyrrell, Jeanette Hawkins and Rebecca Brown.

Next week the Men play in a 4-person Irish Team Stableford (sponsored by Katoomba Hire) while the women play a Single Stableford sponsored by the ever-generous Gabrielle Loneragan.
