Our Autumn Bowl, open to all Clubs and celebrating over 50 years of excitement and excellence, is only 2 weeks away (Sat 5-6 May). We want Clubs or individuals to enter medley teams of four, then enjoy a weekend of Blackheath hospitality and great golf on a beautiful course made even more special by the colours of autumn.

BLACKHEATH LADIES

Thursday 19th April was a Stroke event. Carrie Soady (25) was a clear victor with nett 66 over Marilyn Rowe (35) 73. Nearest-the-Pin on the 2nd hole was Carrie, while the Blackheath "Vegie Patch"-sponsored 13th Hole was won by Ro Perry. Balls went to Carrie, Marilyn, Jennifer Wilde, Rhonda Lonergan, Di Landsberg, Etsuko Saxton, Sally McGrath, Janette Hawkins and Anne Morris.

Saturday 21st April was a Single Stableford sponsored by Louise Stevenson. Cindy Fitzgerald (19) won with 35 points over Kerry Wynne (40) 34. The nearest-the-Pin award went to Maree Griffiths on the “Blackheath Vegie Patch”-sponsored 13th hole. Balls went to Cindy, Kerry, Penny Palmer, Louise Stevenson, Joan Aitken, Diana Landsberg, Maree Griffiths, Rhonda Lonergan and Jeanette Hawkins.
 
BLACKHEATH MEN

Wednesday 18th April was our usual Single Stableford and 4BBB for prizemoney exceeding $160.The Singles winner was Ian Griffiths (12) with a remarkable 46 points! He played the course ten under his handicap! Roger Pierce (17) scored 43 points to wrap up second place. Ian paired with Steve Caswell (16) to score 48 points in the 2BBB and win on countback. Runners-up were Garry Way (18) and Adam Preen (15). Balls went to 36 OCB. Nearest-the-Pins were won by Ian Griffiths at the 2nd (72cm) and John Theissen at the 17th (182cm).

SATURDAY 21st April was a Par 2BBB and Single event, also the local qualification round for the Golf NSW (Keno) 4BBB Championships. A beautiful day greeted the field. Winner of the Single Par event was David Pope (24), one of our Sydney members who contributes to our progress in numerous ways. He scored 5 up to win on countback from Roger Saxton (18). The 4BBB winners were Dave Hall (16) and Stuart Brown (11) with 12 up over Rua Kenny (21) and Ian Fitzgerald (16) at 11 up. Rod Welsh and Darrell Gawthorpe also qualified for the next round of the NSW Championships.

The Nearest-to-Pin winner on the second (sponsor: Blue Mountains Plantation Shutters & Cabinet Making) was Roger Saxton (61cm). On the 5th (Office Choice Blue Mountains) was Nat Foster (287cm). On the 7th (Paul & Gabrielle Loneragan) was S. Bowie Wilson (160cm). On the 13th (Blue Mountains Escapes) was Dave Birrell (32cm) then on the 14th it was Michael Swan (380cm). On Ben Cameron's 17th hole, Grahame Phillips won with a shot 306cm from the hole.

SUNDAY 22nd April was a fundraising 4-person Ambrose in support of Huntington’s Disease and Motor Neurone Disease. Rob Montgomery and an enthusiastic entourage organised the event. The Club takes pride in supporting research into these debilitating disorders. Blackheath Golf and Community Club wants to be not only an important part of the local community, but also of the greater community. It congratulates the organisers. Fittingly, the weather was perfect and the event was a success.
