Blackheath Golf Results - 13th December - 17th December 2017

Over 115 golfers played the Blackheath Open on Sunday 17th. The weather held out for most of the day, and we had visitors from District and regional clubs. Next week is our annual 4 person Ambrose event, a suitable silly start to the silly season.

BLACKHEATH MEN

Wednesday 13th December was our usual Single Stableford and 2BBB event. The winner was Adam Preen (16) with 41 points OCB over Shane Murphy (4). The 2BBB winners were Stuart Brown (14) and Shane with 47 points. Runners up were Geoff Hilder (23) and Jim Walsh (17) with 46 points. Balls went to 36 points OCB. Nearest the Pins were won by Andrew Price at the 2nd (200cm) and Ian Robinson at the 17th (75cm).

BLACKHEATH LADIES

Thursday 14th December was a 4 Ball Multiplier.Joan Hart and Di Landsberg won with 46 points over Louise Aaron and Helen Rabone with 43 points. The NTP awards went to Etsuko Saxton on the 2nd, Di Landsberg on the 5th, Ros Starkey (by draw) on the Blackheath “Vegie Patch” 13th, and to Sandra Draper on the 14th. Balls were won by Joan & Di, Louise & Helen, Marilyn Rowe & Rhonda Lonergan, Mandy McAlister & Ros, Etsuko and Karen Tolhurst.

SATURDAY 16TH

On Saturday we had our annual Ham & Pudding Day, a Medley Single Stableford followed by an 80 metre shootout at the 18th hole.

Rua Kenny won the Stableford Comp with 42 points off 25. Runner-up was Stuart Ritcjie (18) 42. Balls went to 34 points on countback. NTP's were won by Stuart at the 2nd (240cm), Sam Gray at the 5th (296cm), Barry Simpson at the 7th (110cm), Rua Kenny and Yvonne Murray at the 13th (112 and 500cm), Peter Hume at the 14th (192cm) and Mark Allen at the 17th (100cm). Mark also won our Pro-pin of over $200, because he was within 1.5 metres.

After the official prizewinners drifted away, a thousand dollars worth of hams and wines and other prizes were distributed to worthy members who achieved some transient greatness on the day. Our Clayton's Club sponsored this great Xmas event, as it does every year. This Club meets on Wed mornings to play in our Wed comp (Single Stableford and 2BBB) between 9 and 9.40am. If ever you want a game on Wednesdays, we will find you a partner if you turn up at that time.

The shootout, winner takes all, was won by Trevor Thomas who deposited his ball about half a metre form our 18th pin from 75 metres out. A large crowd cheered as each shot was played.

BLACKHEATH OPEN, Sun 17th

Over 115 golfers played the event on Sunday 17th. The weather held out for most of the day, and we had visitors from District and regional clubs. The results are as follows. The winner, and Blackheath Open Champion was Jack Walden, a fine young member of Blackheath with a 2 under par 67, He won on a second hole sudden death playoff over Terry Morier, from Richmond Golf Club. Terry was gracious in defeat. He is a credit to his Club. He delivered a fine acceptance speech. He also won the A Grade nett with 61 off hcp 6. The B Grade (>14,9) scratch winner was Tristan Schwartz with 81. B Grade Nett winner was Mike Gregg with 65 off hcp 23. Jack Walden won the Junior nett score with 66 off 1. The Veterans nett winner was Graham Dowdell with 63 off 12, and the Super Vets winner (age 65 and over) was won by Mike Gregg. The team event was won by a Blackheath group (Barry Simpson, Tristan Schwartz, Paul Sebbens and Jack Walden. Nearest the Pin awards went to Rob McHugh at the 2nd (146cm), Travis Cameron at the 5th (758cm), Jack Walden at the 7th (44cm), Graham Dowdell at the 13th (76cm), Andrew Lawson at the 14th (264cm) and Ken Scully at the 17th (242cm). The longest drive award occurred on the 9th hole and was won by Ryan Bannerman.

Next week is our annual 4 person Ambrose event, a suitable silly start to the silly season.
