BLACKHEATH MEN

Wednesday 11th April was our usual Single Stableford and 4BBB for prizemoney exceeding $160.The Singles winner was Roger Pierce (18) with 44 points. Runner-up was Bill Slatford (12) 42. Darrin Dowd (18) and Bill Slatford (12) win the 2BBB with a massive 50 points over Ray Hawkins (23) and Michael Strong (30) who also recorded a great score. Their 49 points would usually win by several shots. Balls went to 34 points OCB. Nearest-the-Pins were won by Peter Whity at the 5th (47cm) and Graham Phillips at the 17th (290cm).

SATURDAY 14th April was the second leg of our Four Seasons (Vivaldi) Cup, the Autumn Cup, jointly sponsored by Mike Gregg and Martin Green to the tune of $500. This was a Single Stableford and 2BBB. The day was windy, with conditions probably favouring the earlier groups. Shane Murphy (3) put together a fine round of 39 points to win the Cup from Blake Cameron (25) on 38 points. Ben got revenge in the 2BBB which he won with his dad, Ben Cameron (11). Their 45 points were enough for a countback win over Shane and Steve Rabone (12).

The Nearest-to-Pin winner on the second (sponsor: Blue Mountains Plantation Shutters & Cabinet Making) was Alistair Campbell (100cm). On the 5th (Office Choice Blue Mountains) was Mick Strong (303cm). On the 7th (Paul & Gabrielle Loneragan) was Ken Scully (126cm). On the 13th (Blue Mountains Escapes) was Andrew Lawson (70cm) then on the 14th (this is not a typo) it was Andrew again (170cm). On Ben Cameron's 17th hole, Steve Caswell’s winning effort of 123cm was worth $630!! He won the Pro-Pin for being within 150cm of the hole.

Our Autumn Bowl, open to all Clubs and celebrating over 50 years of excitement and excellence, is only 3 weeks away (Sat 5-6 May). We want Clubs or individuals to enter medley teams of four, then enjoy a weekend of Blackheath hospitality and great golf on a beautiful course made even more special by the colours of autumn.

This Saturday, a fourball event is followed by the “Sportsman’s Night”, a 3-course meal while being entertained by Peter O’Malley and Greg Matthews, our star attractions. Enquire.
