On Saturday 6th December was the Summer Cup, one of our oldest trophies, dating back to 1924, the first year golf was played on the current site on Brightlands Ave/ Valley View Rd. It is also the first leg of our 4 Seasons Cup, run over four legs to test golfers in changing climates over the year. Last year's worthy Summer Cup defending Champion, Murray Patterson of Wentworth Falls, was there to defend his title, but, like many in the field, came undone on a difficult day with strong and gusty westerly winds. Jack Walden won the Cup, a scratch vs Par event, with a commendable -4 off zero handicap. Runner-up was Barry Simpson with -8 off 10 handicap. There were also nett competitions in 3 grades. Kit Newcombe (9) won A Grade with +5 with runner up Bruce Ranse (12) +2. B Grade was Joe Landsberg (13) +4 then Martin Green (13) +3. C Grade was Peter Johnson (312) +4 followed by Rua Kenny (23) +1.
