Youth Week - A Day of Celebration for Lithgow's Young People
As youth week rolls around again, Lithgow Youth Council has been working hard to prepare a day of fun and celebration.
Mayor Ray Thompson said “Youth Week is always a great way for celebrating the young people in our community. There are thousands of young people across our region and Youth Week celebrations highlight the many talents and various interests of our Youth.”
The day will kick off at 1pm with a pet parade. Bring your animal friends down to the Civic Ballroom for the parade. There will be prizes for best-dressed pet, pet who looks most like its owner, funniest pet, best trick, highest jump, and other categories. The RSPCA and other animal services will be there on the day to answer your pet questions and run a “Caring for your animals” workshop at 2pm.
Please note: The safety of all community members is a priority. All dogs and cats must be microchipped, healthy and restrained with leads and harnesses (cats).
In accordance with the companion animals act (1988) animals must be accompanied by someone over the age of 18.
Council Rangers will be on site to provide FREE microchipping between 1pm and 3pm in the Civic Ballroom. Animals to be microchipped must be under the supervision of an adult over 18 years old.
From 3pm there will be live music and performances by local bands and artists. We are still looking to fill some slots in the performance schedule so if you are a singer or a band please get in touch.
There will be a free sausage sizzle along with other food available for purchase.
This event reflects Lithgow City Council’s commitment to co-creating and facilitating accessible and affordable activities that encourage social connection and a sense of belonging for Lithgow’s Youth.
Although this a day to celebrate our young people aged 12-25, everyone is welcome to this family friendly event.
