Primary Schools Futsal Gala Day
It was a fun, fast and furious filled day that saw 54 matches played with excitement and enthusiasm from all. Thank you to the following schools who participated in the Futsal Gala Day: Blackheath Primary School, Mts Christian College, Leura Public School, Lawson Public School, Korowal School and Blue Mountains Steiner School. Congratulations to all teams who participated.
The skill level shown by all the talented Under 11 Girls was a delight to watch throughout the day with many close games being fought towards the finals. The Under 11 Girls final was a battle between the 2 Blackheath teams. A tight match that had the spectators on their feet encouraging all team players. Many close attempts were made by the teams to score that needed goal with the final outcome going to Blackheath B team 2-1
The Under 11 boy’s teams saw some strong contests between all schools. There was an abundance of goals scored during the day and many a celebration was had. The boy’s skill level was of a high standard and all players put in 100%. The finals were contested between Lawson Public and Blackheath Public. The crowd were fully behind both teams with loud enthusiastic cheers, encouraging them on as the clock ticked away. The Blackheath boys didn’t give much away to their Lawson opponents during the finals. Lawson held on and fought gallantly but Blackheath were stronger and found the back of the net on 2 occasions to Lawson’s 1.
The senior girl’s games show the quality and exceptional talent we have here in the Mountains. Blackheath, Blue Mountains Steiner, Leura and Lawson all had a strong array of players who held their positions, either in attack or defence. Some amazing saves were halted keeping many a score line in the low digits. Leura Primary l and Blue Mountains Steiner schools progressed to the finals and both teams come out with determination and drive. The Leura senior girl’s great skill level sometimes had Steiner girls chasing. Steiner Senior girls put in a fierce fight to the final whistle. Leura Senior girls held on to a 4-1 win.
The Senior Boys final finished off the day with Blackheath A team challenged by Korowal School. It was a high intensity game with some quality saves from keepers from both of the schools. But the Blackheath Senior Boys, who were dominant throughout the day, held onto that level of skill and play and made Korowal fight for every ball. Again the skill and talent that is emerging from our younger futsal stars is exciting. Korowal held on gallantly but Blackheath where to take home the glory 4 -0.
