Love Your Local Pools This Summer
Blue Mountains City Council, like all businesses, has been challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Some Council facilities – including the Leisure and Aquatic Centres – were forced to close early in the year, due to restrictions implemented by NSW Health. Since pools have reopened, patronage has been down significantly.
“We need our residents to come back to our pools in summer,” Mayor Mark Greenhill said.
“Council provides five Leisure Centres throughout the City, significantly more than most Councils throughout Australia. We need our residents to return to our pools at Glenbrook, Springwood, Lawson, Katoomba and Blackheath.”
Council’s pools are funded by rates (40% of operating costs) and revenue from user fees (60% of operating costs).
Current deals that residents can take advantage of this summer are:
- Pay only $20 for 10 days of full centre access.
Try out lap swimming and leisure pools, spa & sauna facilities (plus cardio & weights facilities and group fitness classes and training at Springwood and Katoomba). Valid until 15 December 2020. - Seasonal pass during the school holidays.
Buy a pass at your local swim centre and come as many times as you like in the holidays. To visit all centres the cost of the pass is: Family $160, Concession $80 and Adult $100. To only visit the outdoor pools at Blackheath, Lawson or Glenbrook the cost of the pass is: Family $115, Concession $55 and Adult $70. Valid from 21 December 2020 to 26 January 2021. This is a great Christmas gift idea!
