Dinosaur Valley Extended for Four Weeks due to Popular Demand
Dinosaur Valley has been a standout success this summer, attracting more than 30,000 visitors to the Blue Mountains since the event launched on November 27.The Scenic Pass has also proven popular with NSW visitors, attracting more than 25,000 guests over the same period.
Originally slated to wrap up on January 31, the event has been extended for four weeks as demand continues to grow, with trading hours also increased during peak times.Weekly specials are also on offer during February, including food and beverage specials every Monday for kids who come dressed in their favourite dinosaur outfit.
Annual pass discounts are also available, and locals will have four more weeks to make the most of their Mountains Pass. Scenic World Managing Director, Anthea Hammon, said the additional capacity would capture the growing interest in Dinosaur Valley and deliver a welcome boost to the Blue Mountains economy on the back of a challenging year for the region.
“Dinosaur Valley has been incredibly well received despite wet weather and border closures, and it’s encouraging to see such a strong appetite for authentic tourism experiences in our own backyard,” she said.
“We’re thrilled to keep the doors open a little longer so more visitors can experience Dinosaur Valley and support Blue Mountains businesses who are struggling to survive on the back of bushfires, floods and the pandemic.”
The four-week extension would also support the local workforce and help to boost visitor spend and overnight stays to the Blue Mountains, Ms Hammon added.
Scenic World Chief Experience Officer, Amanda Byrne, said Dinosaur Valley was a hit with visitors of all ages, with the ancient rainforest setting allowing visitors to disconnect from the devices and re-connect with nature this summer.“The fascination with dinosaurs transcends all boundaries, but a lot of the feedback we’ve received also makes a special mention of our passionate staff and Jurassic rainforest setting,” she said.
“Our Dinosaur Rangers are the real stars of Dinosaur Valley and take pride in capturing the hearts and minds of our visitors with engaging commentary and fun facts about our dinosaurs and World Heritage flora and fauna.
“Where else can you see life-sized dinosaurs among Jurassic rainforest, and wrap up the adventure on the world’s steepest railway?” Dinosaur Valley is an all-ages event which brings Scenic World’s rainforest to life with dozens of life-sized dinosaurs in the heart of the Blue Mountains.
Grab a T-rex selfie in the main plaza, step back in time on the Scenic Cableway, explore an open-air fossil museum with the escarpment as a backdrop, and seelife-sized dinosaurs up close in Dinosaur Valley.
Free Kids Trail Guides will keep the little ones entertained, and the kids can continue the fun at home with Junior Ranger Packs filled with all the essentials such as a canvas satchel, binoculars, Dinosaur Ranger Patch, reusable water bottle and more.
Scenic World has also partnered with a range of accommodation providers, allowing visitors to extend their stay in the Blue Mountains.
