Work to Start on Hazelbrook Station Accessibility Upgrade
Government Member of the Legislative Council and Blue Mountains resident Shayne Mallard MP announced the upgrade as part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program, an initiative to deliver safe, modern and accessible public transport infrastructure across the state.
“I am excited to see work get underway to make Hazelbrook Station easier to access for all our customers, including those with a disability, limited mobility, parent and carers with prams and travellers with luggage,” said Mr Mallard.
“The station design will include a new lift to provide access to the platforms, upgrades to provide accessible pedestrian pathways, upgrades to the accessible parking spaces in the Council car park and improved station amenities such as a family accessible toilet and the latest CCTV technology.”
Planning approval for the project was confirmed following community consultation in December last year.
“I would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide feedback on the planning documents. This has been individually reviewed and responded to in the Determination Report which is available on the project website,” said Mr Mallard.
“We will continue to keep the community up-to-date as work progresses on the project.”
More than $2 billion has been committed to the Transport Access Program since 2011, with more than 450 projects either completed or currently underway across NSW, including accessibility upgrades at Leura and Wentworth Falls stations.
