Blue Mountains City Council has released the designs for the transformative upgrade of Glenbrook Oval amenities building and carpark.

The upgrades will include the demolition of the existing amenities block and the construction of a new state-of-the-art amenities block.

The new facilities will feature changerooms, toilet facilities, accessible toilet facilities, storage areas and a kiosk/canteen area.

The upgrade will see a new carpark area of at least 1500 m2 with an accessible carpark area.

The oval is one of eight district-standard sportsgrounds in the lower Blue Mountains and has a range of users.

Blue Mountains Mayor Councillor Mark Greenhill said, “Council teams have reached these designs after consultation with user groups, so we are excited to share these designs with the wider community.

"This project is a significant investment in our community's wellbeing and recreational infrastructure.”

Cr Greenhill also emphasised the broader community benefits of the project.

"Glenbrook Oval is more than just a sportsground; it's a gathering place for our community. This upgrade will ensure that it remains a vibrant and inclusive space for everyone to enjoy," Cr Greenhill said.

Glenbrook Little Athletics Club (Glenbrook LAC) is one of Glenbrook Oval’s main user groups. The club consulted extensively with Council to develop the designs.

Stephen Gardiner, President of Glenbrook LAC said the design of the new building perfectly reflects the needs of user groups.

“We are a proud family-friendly club and have been part of the lower Blue Mountains Community for 48 years,” Mr Gardiner said. “Glenbrook Oval is our meeting place, for competition, for training, for fun and for community.

“Glenbrook Oval is the pillar for our local community for athletics and recreation, not only for members of our club, but is used for fitness by athletes in the lower Blue Mountains community and about two dozen schools in the area.

“We are very appreciative of collaboration from Council to engage with our club early in the design process. The project team listened to our needs, our suggestions and our aspirations have been genuine in attempts to understand the challenges and opportunities that we have.

“The new facility design will allow us to continue to grow into the future.”

This project has been funded by a $2.5 million grant from the Australian Government's Investing in Our Communities Program.

The design for the new amenities is now on display for community feedback until 16 September. To view the design, go to here
