What's On in October at The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre and Penrith Regional Gallery
There will be loads of performing arts on in Penrith throughout October. The Joan will kick off the month with a theatre work from Bell Shakespeare with Julius Caesar – a famed political masterpiece of intrigue and treachery. Following that are a variety of shows that are sure to entertain!! Sydney Drag Queen presents; Prada’s Priscillas: An all-male revue – a ninety-minute show featuring some of Priscilla Queen of the Desert’s greatest hits including I Love the Night Life, Go West, Shake Your Groove Thing, Finally & I Will Survive. Plus a few surprise hits from some of today’s modern music icons and divas that have inspired drag performances around the world!
For the little ones – Lah Lah’s Big Live Band is coming to the Joan and celebrating their 10th Birthday party and ‘best of’ album through SONY Music . Don’t miss what will be an hour of singing and dancing fun with an opportunity for kids and parents to meet the band and cast after the show.
Spicy Penrith is back! Don’t miss out on a spectacular night of dance, food and colour celebrating the vibrant cultures of the Indian Subcontinent. Up to 100 performers will come together to perform music and dance showcasing the unique and vivid traditions of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. On the same night, A Life’s Journey from MAYA Youth in Performing Arts will explore the highs and lows of life told through the fusion of modern and traditional dance forms from around the world, accompanied by a live band. Two very different shows that are equally exciting and not to be missed!
For our Morning Melodies series, Cash Up Front starring Danny Stain will take you on a journey through the highlights of Cash’s career and the golden age of hits that redefined a genre and have stayed with so many generations for decades. Accompanied by Bonnie Kellett as June Carter, her authentic country vocals and stage presence bring to life the songs with Johnny like no other.
And finally, an almost sold out event – In The Mood is a 1940s theatrical musical revue show presenting a retro look at the life and times of a Great Generation with fabulous singers, hypnotic swing dancers and a Big Band orchestra.
