Garry Sims APM is a senior police officer and a R U OK? Community Ambassador who has lived in the Blue Mountains for nearly forty years. For the past five years, he has run a community drive to assist the patients at Westmead Children’s Hospital by encouraging the donation of new, commercially made Play Doh products.

The donated Play Doh products are used by the physiotherapist team at Westmead Children's Hospital to assist the recovery of the brave young patients that they care for. Due to a risk of cross infection, the Play Doh must be disposed of after each use, meaning they use a huge quantity each year. Last years drive resulted in donations that provided a years supply of Play Doh, meaning that funds normally spent on the purchase of Play Doh could be diverted to other areas in need at the Children’s Hospital.

This year, Garry is calling on the Blue Mountains Community to assist with the giving of Play Doh. If you are in a position to donate, you can and arrangements can be made for contactless collection of your donation.

Alternatively, take part in the Walk n Talk For Life Blue Mountains

Bookings are open for the next Walk n Talk For Life Blue Mountains walk at Blackheath on Saturday 27th June. They are meeting at 10am to set off along the easy rated Fairfax Heritage Track. This walk is also aimed at supporting the annual community charity run by our local coordinator, Garry Sims APM - R U OK? Community Ambassador, to support the patients at Westmead Children's Hospital.

If you would like to help our support of Westmead Children's Hospital come along to our walk on Saturday 27th June with some new, commercial Play Doh product to donate to the appeal (tubs can be purchased for as little as $2.00 - every tub helps!) If you can't make the walk but would like to come on board and help, .

Bookings are required as Walk n Talk For Life will be practicing physical distancing and measures to assist the health of those attending.
