Wentworth Falls picnic area upgrade - re-opening details
The engineering works are mostly complete including the carpark and pathway modifications, drainage works and construction of the new busparking bays.
Remaining works include landscaping, completion of gutters and the resurfacing of the roads and carpark.
The project aims to improve traffic flow, safety, and increase capacity of the car park as well as reduce overflow impacts on Falls Road, Wentworth Falls. The project is managed by NPWS and is separate to other parking strategies by Blue Mountains City Council.
The car park terraces will be slightly widened and reconfigured to increase capacity from 55 spaces to 75 spaces. Two new bus-bays will be built on the internal loop road to allow parking for up to 5 mini-buses. The bays will also be wide enough for coaches to use as required. In addition, the works will slow down traffic speed with new speed humps on the loop road and improved traffic signage. The plan achieves an increase in capacity, while ensuring minimal environmental impact.
