Celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2025, The Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub continues to attract sell-out audiences to its vibrant and varied program, including music, theatre, dance and dramatic events.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “We’re proud that this theatre and cultural hub goes from strength to strength and has evolved, in just ten years, to become a renowned attraction in the Blue Mountains, for visitors and the local community.

“As we proudly celebrate this milestone, I’d like to remind residents that they don’t have to travel away from the Blue Mountains for world-class entertainment. The program at Springwood is rich and diverse, including local, interstate and international acts. Tickets to these shows also make a great gift idea for loved ones.”

One recent show this month, Water Mirror by choreographer Paulina Quinteros, was an evocative fusion of Japanese drumming with energetic contemporary dance.

The show was an immersive experience complete with an array of multi-media effects. The show started quietly with an atmospheric full moon projected across the stage, with one drummer and a bowl of water, representingmisogi, the Japanese Shinto practice of purification.

In an impressive transition, the ensemble of powerful acrobatic dancers captivated the audience with energetic and breathtaking choreography echoing the powerful rhythm of the Taiko drummers. The comments from the audience following the show reflected their rapture, including:

"Water Mirror was amazing. The drumming, the dancing, the music and the lighting effects were all brilliant. The skill and stamina from all the performers was second to none. What a fabulous show!"

"Intriguing mix of art forms, which resulted in a most exhilarating top performance."

"Delightful hybrid of genres. All were beautifully synchronised, and the dancers were especially precise and controlled. "

"Mesmerising. I’ve never seen anything like it. So masterfully put together and magical to watch."

Water Mirror was a Danza del Arte Production and proudly presented by Blue Mountains Theatre, which is celebrating 10 years of operation in 2025.
