Waste Facilities close due to COVID-19
This has been prompted by the Public Health Order issued by the NSW Government on 30 March and follows the closure of Katoomba Resource Recovery and Waste Management Facility on 24 March.
The facility will only be open to domestic waste collection trucks and business contractors. Council’s normal domestic waste collection service will continue, as will Booked Waste Services.
BMCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Rosemary Dillon said: “The closures have been prompted by the Public Health Order issued on 30 March which stipulates that people must stay at home unless going to work (if unable to work remotely), to school or an educational institution, to shops for food and essentials, or to get medical care or supplies and to exercise.
“We need to continue to support businesses who continue to operate in this environment, like our own, and we are encouraging Blue Mountains residents to stay at home as much as possible. Observing the Public Health Order is the most important thing we can do to protect each other and to protect our community,” Dr Dillon said.
“These changes to our service – and the many changes that are occurring throughout the world – are not convenient, but it’s our reality until this pandemic passes and life returns to normal.
“We’re still offering weekly kerbside rubbish, recycling and green waste collections. We’re still offering our booked waste service. Please take advantage of these waste services, during this unprecedented period.”
- Domestic waste services continue as normal.
- Booked waste services continue as normal. Each residential property in the Blue Mountains can receive two booked waste services of their choice per financial year, at no extra cost, providing an easy way to get rid of bulky items.
