Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the M4 Motorway at South Penrith as part of ongoing work to build a new interchange at The Northern Road.

Work hours have been extended by one hour starting at 10pm and finishing at 5am on selected dates between July 25 and the morning of 3 August for the westbound carriageway of the M4 Motorway only.

During the work, the M4 Motorway will be closed in both directions with detours in place via the entry and exit ramps to The Northern Road.

Remaining work hours to complete the interchange are:

  • Wednesday 25 July, Thursday 26 July, Sunday 29 July, Monday 30 July, Wednesday 1 August and Thursday 2 August, beginning at 10pm and finishing at 5am for the M4 westbound carriageway. Work finishes at 4am for eastbound traffic on these dates.
  • Work will also take place on Friday nights through to Saturday mornings from 10pm to 7am, and Saturday nights through to Sunday mornings from 10pm to 8am.
  • Work is expected to be complete by Friday 10 August, weather permitting.

Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, follow the direction of signs and traffic control.

Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
