Woodford Academy event - November 2019

You are invited to join Rae Clapshaw (former Penrith High School History teacher) at 1pm on Saturday 16 November 2019 In the last of a series of talks on the impact of World War I on the Woodford Academy community. Rae will speak on the centenary of Remembrance Day, begun in the UK in 1919 and an important Australian connection, before the launch of 'Make Your Mark in History', an E-book on display in the museum that tells the stories of the lives of the 58 former students who enlisted in World war 1. Rae's talk will focus on the research process using the stories of two former students to illustrate how anyone can research their ancestor's war records.

Saturday 16 November 2019 is also the last opportunity to view Woodford artist Michael Herron's stunning exhibition of paintings of 'Woodford's Reserve', the former grounds of the Blue Mountains oldest building. Michael's paintings capture the quiet beauty of this historic landscape over the last 5 years, that now features the fascinating 'Layers in Time' Heritage trail officially opened in August 2019.
