This Sat 2nd April, iconic Australian soul/pop duo Melanie Oxley and Chris Abrahams perform in Katoomba
Meg Benson from Music Hunter events, invited them back after their first sold out concert during last years successful post cover rescue series, Afternoon Delights, when Melanie remarked "we had a great time, loved the receptive audience, and the sound in the venue and are happy to returning in the future". The two have graced Australia's most prestigious stages, and hold a firm respect for rare intimate performance opportunities, especially in settings such as this with a "focussed listening audience". During her interview this week on Radio Blue Mountains Earthly Delights show, Oxley was asked how she feels about the vast differences in venue sizes she's performed on considering the huge popularity they have enjoyed over time across huge and tiny spaces, " Chris and I both tend to get completely absorbed in the music, so with that immersion we can hold that intimacy on stages of any size, and just because you are on a big stage does not mean you have to shout everything out. It's definitely more challenging to perform in an intimate space though, because everyone is right there in front of you, though it was amazing in your series, my husband has been to loads of gigs over the years, and he said it was one of our best gigs" Melanie said on 89.1FM. So be sure to catch them this sat on their return visit.
Although they have played together since 89, live performances are rare. Mel and Chris have been in the studio recording over the last year and are currently mixing their new album….so be ready for lots of new music from these two amazing musicians.
