Think Spring – Think Leura!
The 2017 festival, the 53rd, will take place from Saturday, September 30 to Sunday, October 8, with the gardens and the plant sales centre open from 9:30 to 4:30 daily.
And, as always, proceeds from the festival go to the Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital and other health-related organisations.
The 11 gardens in this year’s festival include two new to the festival and four returning after a break, including the ever-popular Ewanrigg and The Braes.
There is a very wide range of garden styles from which to draw inspiration such as the Waldorf Leura Gardens resort with its stunning old trees and mollis azaleas with a scent to die for and, of course, the wonderful Paul Sorensen-designed landscapes of Everglades.
There is also a large variety of medium-sized gardens, many very personal and obviously much-loved. So no matter what type of garden you have at home, you will be sure to gain ideas and inspiration from this year’s festival gardens.
The cost of an all-gardens ticket is $25, or $8 per person per garden. And this year, holders of the $25 all-gardens ticket will have unlimited access to the Music in the Gardens performances held from 1:00pm at the Waldorf Leura Gardens Resort from Sunday October 1 to 8. Several new acts will be appearing including The Raduga Trio and Celtic Airs & Graces as well favourites such as the Katoomba Jazz Quartet and the Heathens Choir of Blackheath.
The festival’s plant sales centre will be offering an even bigger range of enticements, with five new sellers taking part and high quality garden tools and metal garden artworks made in the Blue Mountains also being available.
Both native and exotic plants will be offered to suit most climate types, with everything from unusual varieties of roses, orchids, irises and daylilies to beautiful maples and other stunning deciduous trees.
