Things To Do in the Blue Mountains this Christmas Day

Looking for something to do with the family on Christmas Day before or after feasting on prawns, mince tarts and pavlova? Three of the Mountains' leading attractions will be open and ready to welcome you through their doors this Christmas Day.

Scenic World

Less than two hours from Sydney, Scenic World is renowned for providing the ultimate Blue Mountains Adventure - from native birds and fresh air, to breathtaking views of the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains including the Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls & Jamison Valley.

Whether you want to take an exhilarating ride on the world’s steepest railway, explore the mystery of the ancient rainforest or discover how high the Skyway glides above the valley floor, there’s something for everyone at Scenic World.

Once you've ridden all the attractions pop into one of Scenic World's eateries to recharge for your next adventure and pick up a memento at the gift store.

Jenolan Caves

Open daily including Christmas Day, award-winning Jenolan Caves are the worlds oldest caves, and are considered Australia's most outstanding.

Friendly guides will show you through your choice of 6 spectacular show caves, for all ages and fitness levels. Plus there are night tours, ghost tours, adventure caving, a self-guided tour and bush walks.

During the school holidays children's tours are also available. There are family and seniors discounts, plus a wide range of food and accommodation - something for everyone!

Blue Mountains Explorer Bus

The Blue Mountains Explorer Bus takes you to more of the sights, faster and more frequently than any other Blue Mountains tour. Hop on and off at 31 stops in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area of Katoomba, Leura, and Wentworth Falls – with live commentary and personal service from friendly driver-guides. Hop on the bus in Katoomba and in minutes you can be soaring high above huge waterfalls or shooting down into ancient rainforest on the world's steepest railway.

15 buses a day take you to some of our most spectacular waterfalls, so the choice is yours: see them all, or stay a while and treat yourself to a secluded natural shower! With more than 10 of our stops located close to fantastic bush walks, the Explorer Bus is your key to a bush adventure that can last half an hour or half a day.
