The Summer Reading Challenge is set for adventure again this December
The challenge runs from 1 December 2024 to 31 January 2025 and is open to all children and teens aged 0 to 18 years old.
There are fabulous rewards to earn, and you can choose whichever stories and adventures you want. All you need is a free Library membership.
Blue Mountains Mayor, Councillor Mark Greenhill said: “This is the 17th year the Summer Reading Challenge has been inspiring kids across the Blue Mountains, which is something we should be proud of as a community.
“Not only is it a great activity and free way for parents to keep their kids and teens occupied over the summer holidays, it’s also a creative way to keep their reading skills growing over the break.
“And the beauty of the challenge is that no matter what you like to read, you can get involved. You can choose to read books, picture books, magazines, eBooks, eAudiobooks, Audiobooks and even graphic novels.
“You also aren’t limited by where you are – you can borrow from any Library branch or use our electronic resources.”
Taking part is easy - all you need to do is pick what you want to read, collect a log sheet at any Library branch or download one from the Blue Mountains Library website, and get reading.
Readers will earn book vouchers that can be redeemed at participating bookshops across the Mountains. There are also lucky draw prizes to be won, and you can even win the chance to help Blue Mountains Library choose books to add to their collection.
The school with the most participants could win a $200 book voucher.
For more information and how to join, visit here, or drop by your nearest Blue Mountains Library branch and pick up a logsheet from 1 December.
