Super Smash Bros Ultimate Casual Competition at Lithgow Library

Libraries aren’t just about books and quiet study anymore, they’re dynamic and vibrant community spaces where like-minded people can meet up for a variety of events and activities. That is what Aidan Crann discovered when he approached Lithgow Library recently with his idea for a video game competition.

Aidan was looking for a place where members of the community could gather to hang out and enjoy a casual video game competition. The Lithgow Library was happy to offer the space and equipment to support and encourage young people to develop their creativity.

“Council is always happy to encourage young people to come together and engage in community activities,” said Mayor Ray Thompson. “The libraries are a public space for all to share so we want to encourage young people to come in and use the facility. Programs that appeal to youth, especially ones requested by youth themselves, are most likely to increase their use of the Library space”.

The group is suitable for a range of ages although children under 8 will require an adult to stay with them. “Beginners are welcome to join in. We can help you learn to play and even lend you a controller to use,” said Aiden. The group will meet every Tuesday at the Lithgow Library from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. If you have a Nintendo controller please bring it along.
