Suicide Prevention Workshops at Lithgow Library
“By coming to one of the Wesley LifeForce Suicide Prevention workshops you can help reduce suicide in our community,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor, Stephen Lesslie. “Providing support can be as simple as having a conversation with someone you may be concerned about and asking, ‘Are you okay? I’ve noticed some changes in you lately and I am just wondering how you are?’ ”
Wesley Mission, supported by the PHN Nepean Blue Mountains, has a program that aims to prevent suicide through teaching people how to identify the signs that someone may be at risk of suicide and what to do.
Wesley Mission will be holding their Wesley LifeForce Suicide Prevention workshops on Saturday 3 March 2018, and Wednesday 18 April 2018. They are full day sessions from 9am-4pm and will take place at the University of Notre Dame, School of Medicine, 2B Col Drewe Drive, Lithgow.
In these workshops, participants learn why people consider, attempt or die by suicide, what to say to someone who is at risk, what the signs are that a person might be thinking of suicide, and how and when to help. The workshops are free and anyone aged 18 years and over is welcome to attend.
The Wesley LifeForce Suicide Prevention workshops are free and open to all community members and frontline workers. To register for this event please visit the website. Alternatively, please call 1800 100 024 or emailfor further information.
