Spring School Holiday Workshops at Penrith Regional Gallery
From a selection of workshops in clay modelling and animation, collage print and paste as well as drawing tools and techniques, there is a range of focused art workshops to suit even the fussiest of little artists!
These holidays the Gallery is celebrating all things clay, with two workshops dedicated to learning about the wonderful properties of clay and how to sculpt, build and manipulate it in workshops Clay Gnomes and Clay Creatures. In Clay Gnomes, participants will create their own magical mini-world, fit for a teeny, tiny clay gnome and in Clay Creatures, students will explore the Gallery’s heritage garden to find a hidden animal sculpture and learn how to construct and carve their designed creature on a clay tile.
Funky Spunky Sculptures on 10 October will utilise the techniques of sculpture making using acetate, contact paper, wood, glue and a series of colourful translucent papers to create their own sculpture inspired by artist Paul Hopmeier.
If sculpting wasn’t exciting enough, then get ready for Claymation. This workshop explores the two very different but equally special techniques of sculpturing and animation. The Gerald Lewers sculptures in the garden will serve as muses to participants as they create a short animation inspired by the sculptures in this two hour workshop, using playdough as a material to create something truly wonderful.
In French inspired workshop, Drawing Plein Air, participants learn about perspective using simple drawing tools and experimenting with line, tone and composition in an outdoors setting. The finished drawing will then be framed and ready to hang at home.
In Print and Paste, participants will spend the morning creating a series of prints inspired by the colours and textures in the garden. Students will then head to the studios to use a range of materials like clay, foam, ink and paint to create a colourful, layered concertina book.
There is lots to create and learn these Spring Holidays; and bookings are essential! So get in now to reserve your spot in this clay-mazing line-up of fantastic workshop offerings.
