Wednesday 15th & 16th October … On Wednesday and Thursday, we had the annual and extremely popular Ladies Classic. Women from around the state once again came to contest the Classic and were treated to two beautiful days and the golf course was at its best. Our Superintendent, Andrew Hamill had the course if tip top condition along with now arguably the best greens in the mountains. The colours are now out and made everything look even more spectacular. On Day 1 we saw the Blackheath Ladies with their local knowledge take centre stage. In Division one our President Lynne Pressley won the day with 39 points by way of a countback over fellow Blackheather , Margaret Booth. In Division 2 Trish Freeborn from Lynwood ( 39 points ) won the day over Blackheath Ladies President , Karen Tolhurst.(38 points). In Division 3 Carla Gilderdale of Blackheath had a brilliant round of 43 points over another excellent round by Roz Jackson ( 42 points ) from Woollahra.
On Day 2 of the Classic, we had a 2 Person Canadian Foursomes. The Blackheath and Lynwood show continued. In Division one the Lynwood Team of Janine Smith and Andrea Rider won with 65.25 over Blackheath pairing , Sarah Gardner and Louise Stevenson with 66.62. Division 2 Blackheath pair Nola Lavers and Lynn Siebels combined to win with a 70.75 just edging out Joanne Dorahy and Sue Rudd from Lynwood with 70.67. How close was that !!!.
It was a brilliant two days and players are registering already for next year. Well done to the Blackheath Womens Golf along with Darrin and Jack in the Pro Shop.
