Wednesday 2nd May

The Men held their usual Single Stableford and 2BBB. The course has true greens and good fairways, so, with the absence of westerly winds is at our mercy. Phil Stricke (15) amassed 44 points winning a $50 voucher. Ian Fitzgerald (18) came second with 43 points. The 2BBB winners with a massive 51 points were Kevin Tooke (27) and Mick Strong (30). Steve Rabone (11) and new-member Karl Munchow (15) could only get 2nd in the 4B with a score of 48. That score would normally go one better. Nearest the Pin prizes went to Phil Stricke on the 5th (253cm) and to Ian Barrett on the 17th (70cm).

Thursday 3rd MAY

The Women held a Single Stableford sponsored by Roz Starkey. We hosted visitors from Gordon. Rhonda Lonergan (22) led the field with 37 points followed closely by Etsuko Saxton (45) on 36. Nearest the Pin on the 5th was won by Ro Perry, while Rhonda won the Blackheath Vegie Patch-sponsored 13th. Balls went to Rhonda, Etsuko, Di Landsberg, J.Wilde, Carrie Soady, E.Sheppard, W.Vernay, R.Pervy and Mandy McAlister.

Saturday & Sunday 5th and 6th MAY

The weekend was the 51st anniversary of our Autumn Bowl. On Saturday we ran a Medley Single Stableford alongside the major event, Ian Evans was the winner with Roger Saxton the runner-up. Nearest the Pin awards went to Ian Robinson on the 5th (107cm) and Patrick Kenny on the 17th (92cm). The Pro Pin was not awarded this weekend, so Patrick unfortunately missed out on a big prize.

The Autumn Bowl is a 4-person team stableford event over 36 holes that attracts golfers from around the State. Great support came from Bankstown, Kiama and Castle Hill amongst other Clubs. Kiama won the Bowl when one of their several 4-person teams scored 269 stableford points. Castle Hill came second with 260. Added to this great weekend were numerous other team and individual prizes and a very successful dinner-dance. Also, the weather was perfect. We left the Club on Sunday afternoon with smiles on our faces because we had renewed old friendships, met some newbies, had a great Saturday night, and, of course, enjoyed the golf.
