Sound Bites live and local free music Fridays
The newly refurbished Civic Centre Arcade will be the only place to be every Friday for six weeks, from 15 November to 20 December, 12pm to 2pm.
Lunchtimes will come to life with an eclectic line-up of Blue Mountains musicians showcasing a variety of styles and sounds. Attendees can enjoy a delicious lunch from one of Katoomba’s many renowned food outlets or bring their own if they would prefer.
With the vibrant and colourful Katoomba as a backdrop, Sound Bites is set to signal the start of summer with the series of free, family-friendly events.
Programmed by Willem Hendriksen of local music enterprise RetroRehash and Sounds of Our Town, Sound Bites’ genre-spanning selection of established and emerging Blue Mountains artists includes Electric Ballroom, Senses: Margot Tago and Mateo, Jason Thornton Duo, Gryff and Toah, Lost World DJs and Doctor Robot, and the Bearded Ladies Choir.
Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said the series of free music Friday events is the perfect way to celebrate the revitalisation of Katoomba Civic Centre Arcade.
“Sound Bites will present a fantastic soundtrack of local talent, from a broad range of genres. It is a great way for us to celebrate them, and the work that has gone into refurbishing the Civic Centre Arcade – which is now a really versatile and contemporary community space that we are exceptionally proud of.
“The Blue Mountains is the inaugural City of the Arts and we value the incredible contribution musicians make to our city. Sound Bites is one way we can shine a spotlight on their talents.
“Sound Bites is free, family-friendly and fully accessible. There’s no need to book, just show up and enjoy.”
