Shop local and support our local businesses
Over the coming week, Lithgow will be host to almost 150 caravans as part of a tour conducted by the Australian Caravan Club. “We are excited to host this many visitors for a full week!” said Lithgow City Council’s Mayor, Councillor Maree Statham. “With so much to do and see, particularly in our Main Streets, I want to draw attention to the hard work of our local shop keepers and service providers.”
“To support our business community, Council is encouraging our local retailers to be “open for business” on Saturday 22October and showcase all that they have to offer,” continued Mayor Statham. “The variety of product offerings from local businesses is a true asset to the local community and we’ve designed this weekend to showcase that variety in a fun, fruitful and entertaining fashion.”
Many businesses in Lithgow will be extending their trading hours and offering special discounts on a range of products. In support of this weekend, local musicians will be entertaining the crowds and showing off their talents. Grab a delicious meal from one of the many eateries, marvel at the lights of ‘Made in Lithgow’ in Cook Street Plaza and enjoy an awesome day of shopping in Lithgow.
“We hope that this weekend can be the beginning of an ongoing campaign which will involve more regular shop local events in conjunction with the Lithgow Live and Local entertainment program,” said Mayor Statham. “All businesses are encouraged to participate and reap the rewards of a focus on the quality of shopping in the Lithgow LGA.”
