Senator Payne Receives Community Feedback on Mobile Black Spots in the Blue Mountains
To support Round 4 of the Program, the Government recently re-opened the National Mobile Black Spot Database for nominations from local, state and territory governments and Federal Senators and Federal Members of Parliament.
The Database closed on 11 October 2018, although locations not on the database can still be funded.
Mobile Network Operators and Infrastructure Providers are now encouraged to apply to deliver coverage to further eliminate mobile black spots in regional communities.
Round 4 will include Public Interest Premises (PIPs). PIPs include economic centres, emergency service facilities, local government facilities, health and educational facilities, Indigenous community organisations and not-for-profit organisations.
Senator Payne said the opening of the database had enabled residents to have their say about mobile black spots.
“I want to thank the members of the Blue Mountains community who have brought particular mobile black spots to my attention,” Senator Payne said.
“The Government’s strong economic management means we are able to allocate $25 million to deliver Round 4 of the Program.”
