Rollout of LED Streetlighting
Most residential streets across the Lithgow Local Government Area are illuminated by white 80w Mercury Vapour streetlamps which will soon be replaced by white 25w LED luminaries.
LED lamps emit a more direct light, have three times the life expectancy of Mercury Vapour and use much less power, resulting in reduced greenhouse emissions and much lower running costs, a saving of approximately $90,000 per annum.
The metal and glass material from the existing lamps will be recycled and the hazardous mercury disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
