Road safety works commencing on Old Bathurst Road
The nightworks are scheduled to begin on Monday 12 May and is expected to take approximately seven weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The following changes are expected to occur, to allow this important upgrade work to take place as quickly and as safely as possible:
- Site 1 - Old Bathurst Road (between Allen Street and Normic Avenue) – nightworks with traffic controls, including single lane access, occurring Mondays to Fridays from 12 May to 29 May 2025 (weather permitting).
- Site 2 - Old Bathurst Road (between Binya Street and Gosling Street) – nightworks with full closure and traffic diversions in place, occurring Mondays to Fridays from 26 May to 25 June 2025 (weather permitting).
Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “Council works with all levels of government on identifying problem areas in the city’s road network, to deliver targeted road safety upgrades aimed at reducing the incidence of road related injury.
“We appreciate this is a major thoroughfare for our city and we have designed the works program to minimise disruptions, by staging the works to allow necessary road closures to occur at night, outside of the peak traffic periods.”
Council has received funding specifically for this upgrade through NSW Safer Roads and the Australian Government’s Blackspot Program.
