Blue Mountains City Council is progressing plans to construct a new Visitor Information Centre at Echo Point.

The new building will feature interactive information displays, learning areas, a multi-purpose space, souvenirs and administration areas.

The proposal will also include upgrades to the Prince Henry Cliff Walk and Prince of Wales Lookout so they can be reopened.

The upgrades, which will increase the capacity of people able to visit the centre, will help cope with the 4 million tourists expected to be visiting the City by 2025.

Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill said, “Tourism is critical to the Blue Mountains economy and the new visitor information services will provide a high quality tourism destination for domestic and international tourists.

Echo Point is one of the prime Blue Mountains visitor destinations, and through the information centre visitors receive personalised information to ensure they have the best possible visitor experience.”

Blue Mountains residents have until 7 February to comment on the designs and Review of Environmental Factors for the renewal of the Echo Point Visitor Information Centre.

Residents are encouraged to view the proposal and have their say online.

Printed copies of the draft plan will be available at Council’s Katoomba & Springwood offices and branch libraries. Submissions are accepted by email to council@bmcc.nsw.gov.au and in writing to Locked Bag 1005 Katoomba NSW 2780.
