Queens Birthday Costume Ball

The Circus is Coming to Town

There will be trapeze artists, lions, tigers and clowns at The Fairmont Resort Leura on Sunday Evening the 9th of June for the Three Sisters Social Group’s 38th Annual Costume Ball.

This a major event on the Blue Mountains LBGTI Social Calendar the theme for this year’s ball is a WINTER CIRCUS. Last year’s “Disney“ theme proved to be a great success, with an array of fabulous costumes from Mary Poppins to Mickey Mouse. Winter Circus will be just as colourful.

The 38th annual costume ball at the Fairmont Resort will be the culmination of a great Queen’s Birthday weekend of activities with people attending from as far away as Brisbane, Melbourne and throughout NSW and the ACT ascending to the Blue Mountains for the LBGTI community festivities. Beginning on the Friday evening with the bentART exhibition at The Wentworth Falls School of Arts followed by the Disco at the Blackheath Community Centre on the Saturday night, and culminating with the Annual Costume Ball on Sunday evening at The Fairmont Resort at Leura. Tickets for both bentART opening and the Blackheath Disco are this year for the first time available online.

The bentART exhibition features over 100 works of LGBTI artists from across Australia. It will be open Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm and Monday 10am to 2pm. Tickets to the bentART opening on Friday 7th June are available on Sticky Tickets. Tickets will also be available on the door.

The Blackheath Disco will have Dj sh0rty spinning the tunes and will feature shows by iconic Sydney drag queen Joyce Maynge. The Disco is a BYO event starting from 7:15pm on Saturday 8th June. Tickets are available on Try Booking and will be available at the door.

Tickets to this year’s 38th Annual Costume Ball are $160.00, which includes welcome drinks, a superb three-course meal, beer and superior table wines. Mountains group The Groove Coop will be playing music for you to dance the night away. The evening will be compered by the fabulous Joyce Maynge. Prizes will be awarded for the best in theme costumes in categories for male and female, couple, group and table. And for the Belle of the Ball. Tickets are on sale until 3rd June. Proceeds from the weekend’s activities will allow the Three Sisters Social Group to continue their program of donations. This past year the Three Sisters Social Group have donated Christmas gifts to Blue Mountains Meals on Wheels recipients and are a sponsor to the bentART exhibition.

Apart from the Annual Costume Ball and Blackheath Disco, the Three Sisters Social Group hosts monthly lunches and dinners throughout the year for members and friends, everyone is welcome.
