Blue Mountains Regional Business Chamber President, Mark Barton said this year's awards were “Simply the Best Blue Mountains Business Awards”

“The Gift of Success” was the theme for this year’s awards and the importance of this event is to encourage and celebrate our Blue Mountains Businesses. This then affords them the opportunity to see their strengths and weaknesses and to test themselves against their business plan. They are then able to compare themselves with their peers by entering the Blue Mountains Awards process providing them with a yearly self-check and an opportunity to improve their efforts, making a strong and viable business while developing their growth.

As the President of the Chamber I can honestly say that the emotion in the room from the get-go was electric. If you have any great stories, thoughts or photos from the night we would love you to share them with us.

Our Harry Hammon winner this year, Louisa Forrest of Lavenderia, told her story about an 8 year commitment, developing her business while being a single mum. Congratulations Louisa in taking out 4 awards on the night. Our thoughts are with you and with the other 11 regional winners in the State Business awards on the 23rd of November. Clearly, your “Gift of Success” is your determination to succeed.

The Chamber is all about partnering and collaborating with our Sponsors, our Business Community and Local Government to build cohesive relationships. We have started working on our strategic plan for 2019 that will encompass networking, education and the awards. Over 20 local businesses have recently joined the chamber, recognising the benefits and importance of being part of this community. We encourage you to get in touch if you would like further information about becoming a member and look out for our strategic events that will focus on improving businesses across the Blue Mountains.

At this point, I would like to recognise Jenny Coles, our BDM for her tireless efforts to make this event the success it has been. It was unfortunate that Jenny was unable to attend the night, as illness finally caught up with her the day of the awards. Jenny is very positive and is now going to recuperate over the next few weeks while she adjusts to her new routines. In saying that, I hope you can understand that our office will not be manned on a regular basis, however we will respond as quickly as possible.
