Open Day and Celebration of BigCi 10 Year Anniversary
You are invited to share with us an important milestone:
10 years of running BigCi (Bilpin international ground for Creative initiatives) –
an artist residency supporting Australian and International Artists.
Presentation of BigCi Anniversary Awards
BigCi10 Past Residents Award (4 weeks of BigCi residency) was only open to the past residents of BigCi. The names of those who expressed interest will go into the hat, and the lucky name will be drawn.
BigCi10 New Residents Award (4 weeks of BigCi residency) was open to any artist who has not done a BigCi residency before. This is a competitive entry and the winner will be announced.
Residents Memento Artworks
We have a tradition at BigCi of inviting resident artists at the end of their stay to create an A4 size page artwork which will serve as a memory of their time at BigCi.
Hundreds of artworks collected over the past 10 years will be exhibited at the Open Day for the first time.
By Tosca Terán, Canada, Winner of BigCi Environmental Award 2019.
Visitors will collaborate bio-sonically with non-human organisms around them, listen to bio-data through various analogue synthesizers, plants, moss and mushrooms, and experience a non-human bio-sonification symphony. Participants will get a chance to place electrodes onto plants, fungi, themselves, or each other to have their bio-data turned into music.
Yao Kai, China and Madeleine Shaw, Sydney will exhibit works they created during the BigCi residency and do artist talks about their inspirations, influences and techniques.
We all look forward to seeing you on 8 September.
This is a free event. All donations go towards running our artist-in-residence programs and are tax deductible.
Everyone is welcome. Please spread the word.
